Mental and emotional problems are often like physical problems; the sooner they receive treatment, the better. The longer illness is left untreated, the greater the disruption to the person’s ability to study, work, make friends and interact comfortably with others.

Participants in the CAPPS program will be offered frequent and intensive evaluations, including complete diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric assessments, and extensive neuropsychological assessments. Participants also receive psychoeducation, complete treatment planning (including services from CAPPS and the community), and case management. Psychiatric treatment is available (if needed), and is billed to patients’ insurance companies or provided on a sliding scale basis. All other services are provided free of charge.

CAPPS participants may also be invited to participate in Skills Group or Psychoeducational Multi-Family Group. The purpose of both group treatments is to educate participants about symptoms; reduce individual and family stress; and to enhance problem-solving, communication, and coping skills. Group therapy focuses on reducing symptoms and improving functioning in the home, school, and/or work environments.
